Eastham Human Services Committee hears Housing Assistance Corp update on affordable housing crisis. Patty Mitrokostas of Housing Assistance Corporation presented the agency's 2024 work serving 85 Eastham residents through energy assistance, rental aid, and homelessness prevention, requesting $3,500 in annual funding, up from $3,000. Mitrokostas described Cape Cod's severe rental shortage, with 1 to 2 percent vacancy, one-bedroom apartments starting at $2,000 monthly, and median home prices at approximately $820,000, and noted that the agency's fastest-growing homeless population is seniors.
