Eastham Conservation Commission amends emergency order for coastal erosion property. The commission voted 6-0 to reconsider and amend an Emergency Certification for 153 Brownell Road after substantial unpermitted work—including clearing, partial demolition, and tree removal—proceeded without permits or escrow funds. Conservation Chair Karen Strauss said the work exceeded authorization; property owner Nancy Hayes apologized.
The amended order requires an accurate site plan, a Notice of Intent filed by June 5, Town Counsel review of escrow funds including demolition costs, contractors on-site at all times, and all workers to read the permit. The commission also approved various septic upgrades, tree removals with native mitigation, a Certificate of Compliance, and a Cape Cod Rail Trail retaining wall replacement for the Commonwealth.
