Energy & Climate Action Committee · Meeting of October 29, 2026

EASTHAM — The Eastham Energy & Climate Action Committee voted 7-0 to endorse memos recommending the town adopt the MassEnergize outreach platform and pursue a sustainability coordinator position, possibly shared with another town. Town Liaison Shana Brogan reported the town's $150,000 Climate Leaders Grant was approved to design an HVAC replacement at Town Hall, while a separate Green Communities grant covers police department HVAC work. Members debated who would lead the new MassEnergize working group, with one member saying "I always suggest we have a belly button before we propose it," while another argued a leader need not be named before seeking town support.

The sustainability coordinator proposal, drafted by members John and Roberta after surveying other Massachusetts towns, deliberately leaves reporting structure undecided and is not expected to be funded before fiscal year 2029. The committee also approved its September 14 minutes 7-0 and will present a summary of its work at the Select Board's meeting Monday.
