Fitness participation at Eastham senior center surges 46 percent

Eastham Council on Aging reports strong growth in senior center programs and participation. Executive Director Dorothy Burritt told the board that overall center frequency rose 12 percent year-over-year, with fitness program participation surging 46 percent; 2,558 individuals were served in 2025 compared to 2,288 in 2024. Chairperson Beverly Hobbs introduced two new monthly programs: a book club with approximately 15 registered members and the 'We Do Not Care Club,' based on author Melanie Sanders' social movement.

The board approved reinstatement of the 'Your Way Home' transportation program, which provides rides home for seniors transported to hospitals via ambulance.
