EASTHAM — The Eastham Forest Advisory Committee conducted a field inspection at Wiley Park to assess spring planting strategies. Chair Liz Lewis and members Steve Gulrich, Henry Lind, Elizabeth Strzetelski, and Greg Douglas reviewed November 2020 plantings and found nine of fourteen Eastern Red Cedar specimens dead, with four alive but struggling and only one in excellent condition. A consensus emerged to narrow the Herringbrook Road pathway entrance by planting Red and White cedars along the margin to improve future survival rates, with deliberations to continue at the committee's next regular meeting.
