Open Space Committee approves Sandy Meadow Trailhead sign design.

Open Space Committee · Meeting of March 18, 2026

EASTHAM — Open Space Committee approves Sandy Meadow Trailhead sign for spring installation. Chair Rob Young and six present committee members unanimously backed the sample design presented by Alex Bates, with final proof to circulate by email before completion by Fossil. The sign installation precedes an ADA trail extension expected to begin after.

Committee members also reviewed storm recovery at multiple properties, finding the Department of Public Works had cleared most pathways following recent damage, though some hanging trees and hazards remain. Alex Bates reported that the Southern Pine Beetle, an invasive pest moving into the region, may threaten local pine stands; the committee agreed to post educational materials in trail kiosks.
