Open Space Committee launches stewardship monitoring program

Eastham Open Space Committee launches systematic stewardship monitoring program. Vice-Chair Frances Lewis presided in the absence of Chair Rob Young, overseeing the establishment of monthly or bi-monthly walks across five protected properties with designated member pairings to record and report conditions. The committee welcomed new member Cinnamon Swable, replacing a prior Conservation Commission representative.
Joanna Buffington will coordinate with Bob Cook to update the Sandy Meadow Land Management Plan, accounting for changes in federal funding availability. Rob Young and staff member Alex Bates will attend a Marsh Restoration Technical Training on April 30 at Wellfleet Bay as part of a multi-year Audubon project to restore marsh habitat between First Encounter Beach and Upper Boat Meadow.
