EASTHAM — The Eastham Recreation Commission reported strong enrollment for spring and summer programming at its April 14 meeting. Members approved the March minutes and reviewed launches of softball (three teams), T-Ball (two teams with 40-plus registrations), and volleyball. The department faces a critical shortage of swim instructors and lifeguards, with one staff member running the program and a single applicant who failed to meet requirements, down from two instructors the previous year.
Registration for summer programming opened April 11 with strong response. Upcoming events include an Earth Day beach cleanup, Town Meeting childcare, Mother's Day tea, tag sale, summer dance party, Father's Day fishing derby, Tug-of-War, and family karaoke.
