Eastham adopts a level-funded FY28 budget message as officials warn of shrinking reserves. The Select Board voted unanimously to accept the town administrator's budget message, which limits department increases to costs that are "unavoidable" and "beyond the town's control," after officials said the town's roughly $1 million excess levy capacity falls to $572,000 once contractual raises and a 3 percent school increase are funded. Director of Community Development Paul Lagg also detailed cost overruns at two town-owned redevelopment sites, 580 Massasoit Road and the Beach Plum Motor Lodge, saying "if you haven't built anything in the last 15, 20 years, you might be shocked at some of the prices." The board separately heard that Eastham's subsidized housing inventory sits at 3.5 percent, against a 10 percent state goal, and approved license renewals, conservation restrictions on two parcels, and a committee member's resignation.
