Eastham Approves Five Septic System Upgrades

Board of Health · Meeting of September 24, 2026

Eastham Board of Health clears five septic upgrades, splits hearings on new cesspool rules. Engineers Mike Pimentel, Laura Schofield, Chris Egeland, David Flaherty and Tim Brady each won unanimous approval for projects using innovative nitrogen-reducing treatment systems, including a five-bedroom home at 4 Clarks Point Road and a six-bedroom home with a pool at 35 Marion Road, both valid until September 24, 2027. The board also voted unanimously to let Eastham post a single combined meeting notice for the four-town Outer Cape Public Health Collaborative under 940 CMR 29.03(3).

Members set November 19, 2026, for a hearing on most updated regulations, but pushed the septic-specific section to January 28, 2027, saying "I don't think we gain a lot by doing it two months before." Fewer than 200 Eastham properties still have cesspools awaiting a second notification letter.
