EASTHAM -- June 25, 2026, Eastham Board of Health reorganizes and clears two long-pending septic cases at June 25 meeting. The board elected Francie Williamson as its new chair, replacing outgoing chair Hope who joined the Select Board, with a 4-0 vote; Elena was elected co-chair with one abstention. The board unanimously approved a replacement nitrogen-reducing Advantex AX-20 septic system at 5 Burnley Way for Sam and Hannah Peper, covering a failing leach field on an environmentally sensitive lot bordering wetlands. A more complicated approval at 420 Steele Road Rear extended property owner Stephen Henning a new deadline of December 25, 2026, to complete septic installation after his April 2025 approval expired in February without work beginning; conditions require removal of water and sewer lines from the proposed garage to keep it legally unfinished storage space. The board also held off on approving separate public hearing minutes from May 28 after a member flagged uncertainty about whether the board had set a nicotine limit at six milligrams, eight milligrams, or none at all, a question staff will resolve by reviewing the meeting video before the July 30 meeting.
