Eastham Conservation Commission unanimously approves saltwater and freshwater dock rule amendments

EASTHAM — July 14, 2026 — Eastham Conservation Commission amends dock regulations in two unanimous votes. The commission voted 6-0 Tuesday to adopt changes to Section E26A4 of its saltwater dock regulations, codifying a one-to-one-and-a-half-to-one slope ratio for dock height in line with state Division of Marine Fisheries preferences, and separately voted 6-0 to amend Section E1D of its freshwater dock regulations to clarify the Chapter 91 license requirement for docks on great ponds. Chair Karen Strauss noted both changes take effect once filed with the town clerk and posted to the town website. The sole public commenter, Mark Burgess of Shorefront Consulting, called the saltwater height amendment "fine," and separately sought to raise concerns about the commission's 39-item special conditions template; Strauss redirected those comments to the July 28 regular meeting, where Burgess is already scheduled on a separate matter.
