Eastham Conservation Commission Continues Both Bay Lane Revetment Cases to July 14

EASTHAM — June 23, 2026 — Eastham Conservation Commission continued two adjacent Bay Lane shoreline cases and denied one tree-removal application at its June 23 hybrid meeting. The commission voted unanimously to continue both a stone revetment reconstruction at 15 Bay Lane and a wooden bulkhead replacement at 11 Bay Lane to July 14, after engineer Bob Perry of Cape Cod Engineering acknowledged that a revised vegetation management plan — spelling out a phased approach to coastal bank shrub removal — is needed at 15 Bay Lane, and after staff confirmed that a required state DEP file number had not yet been issued for 11 Bay Lane. Commissioners including Cinnamon expressed concern that wholesale removal of root systems at 15 Bay Lane could destabilize the coastal bank, saying "once you start removing, I think you're going to find out that you are going over some of the slope." The commission denied a tree-removal application by Daniel Jenkins at 165 Ginger Plum Lane after the applicant declined to provide additional information requested at an April 28 hearing, and it unanimously authorized staff to solicit bids for an outside consultant team — to be paid by the applicant — combining a coastal geologist and wetlands permitting specialist to review the contested 153 Brownell Road notice of intent, under the commission's July 2021 rules for hiring outside consultants.
