Eastham Select Board Delays Climate Action Plan Vote to May

EASTHAM — April 6, 2026 — Eastham Select Board tables Climate Action Plan vote until May 18, approves full licensing slate. The board unanimously deferred adoption of the town's 83-page Climate Action Plan after members Jacqui Beebe and others said they had not fully reviewed the document before Monday's meeting. Cape Cod Commission Deputy Director Stephen Tupper and Energy and Climate Action Committee Chair Tom McNellis presented the year-in-the-making plan, describing it as a non-binding roadmap covering 55 to 56 strategies across buildings, energy, transportation, and natural resources. Town staff confirmed no funding opportunities would be lost by waiting. The town's Climate Leader designation, already secured, unlocks more than $1 million in potential grant eligibility, including a $150,000 technical assistance grant for Town Hall HVAC engineering already in hand. The board also reappointed Karen Strauss to a third term on the Conservation Commission after nine consecutive years of service, approved all routine license renewals, and flagged two omitted licenses — for the Landing and Arnold's — to be added to the April 21 agenda.
