Eastham Select Board Names Bryan Chair, Seats New Member Cleven

EASTHAM — June 1, 2026 — Eastham Select Board reorganizes under new Chair Suzanne Bryan as wastewater bids beat estimates by $3.5 million. The board unanimously elected Bryan as chair and Bob Bruns, absent due to family travel, as vice chair at its June 1 meeting, and seated newly elected member Hope Cleven as clerk. Outgoing Town Manager Jackie Beebe, marking her final regular meeting after eight years, reported that treatment plant bids received May 27 came in at least $3.5 million under the town's projections, with the project carrying roughly $18 million in contingency even if both bid alternates are accepted. All contracts must reach the State Revolving Fund by June 30, and the board is expected to convene a special meeting shortly after June 17 to award collection-system bids. Beebe also told the board that MassDOT has accepted Eastham's Route 6 corridor redesign as an official project — the town is the only Cape Cod community that has never had a Transportation Improvement Program project — and urged the board to hire outside development finance expertise before issuing any RFPs for the Northeast Village Center, saying rigorous financial analysis has been "missing over the last six or seven years."
