Eastham Planning Board Sends Nine Zoning Amendments to Town Meeting Warrant

EASTHAM — March 30, 2026 — Eastham Planning Board unanimously recommends nine zoning bylaw changes for the 2026 town warrant. The board voted 6-0 on each of nine articles at its March 30 continued public hearing, covering topics from sign regulations and inclusionary zoning to setbacks and residential lot intensity. A tenth article that would have banned shipping containers on residential property was withdrawn after the Select Board voted against moving it forward; board members Dan and Kevin each raised concerns about the potential for rusting containers to leach contaminants into the town's water aquifer, with Dan saying he "just don't understand why it's not going to be regulated," and Kevin urging the zoning task force to "get this back on for next year." Town Planner Paul Lagg noted that storage of campers and recreational vehicles six feet tall or higher will now be a by-right use subject to setback requirements, removing a prior requirement for a Select Board permit. The April 15 Planning Board meeting was cancelled for lack of business; town meeting is the next decision point for all nine articles.
