Eastham Select Board Recommends $2.79 Million Override for FY27 Budget
EASTHAM — March 23, 2026 — Eastham Select Board unanimously recommended a $47.1 million FY27 operating budget requiring a $2,790,000 Proposition 2½ override that would raise the median homeowner's annual tax bill by approximately $465, or 8 percent. Assistant Town Manager and Finance Director Rich Bienvenue identified transfer station costs, pension assessments, and an 8 percent health insurance premium increase as the three chief cost drivers pushing municipal expenses beyond the 3 percent levy cap. The board also voted 4-0-1 to recommend Article 2D, a supplemental package of four service enhancements — including a Council on Aging position, a recreation position, and pre-K programming — that would add up to $37 more per year if all four items passed, for a combined potential tax increase of $502. On zoning, the board voted 4-1 to pull a proposed prohibition on residential storage containers from the 2026 town meeting warrant, directing the Zoning Task Force to conduct additional environmental and safety research before the article could return on a future warrant.
